JENNIFER RIVERA 

I move for my ancestors. My body carries the courage of Cuban Immigrants. I continue their legacy of love, survival, and resilience into the next generations of my bloodline. My Latinidad influences the way I see the world. I am a Vessel. My art is the medium through which I explore my relationship to spirituality and the Universe. My movement practice dives deep into activation through hyper-awareness of the internal and external space.

My work challenges ideas of vulnerability, intimacy, feminine and masculine energies that exist within the human body.

My work explores the fluctuating polarities that balance each other within the philosophy of the Yin Yang.

My work channels the divine femme energies and elements of Yoruba Orichas Ochun, Oyá, y Yemaya.

My work embraces radical unapologetic expression, vulnerability, intimacy, and embodied storytelling in collaboration with femme bodies through live performance and film.

 

I live, move, honor, and create from a place of love and gratitude for my personal life experiences, ancestors, divinities, spirit guides, and women that continue to guide me on my journey in this lifetime.
